LOADRITE Reduces Truck Turnaround Time
H.G. Leach & Company Ltd is a privately owned New Zealand organisation with interests in quarrying, contracting, solid waste disposal, plant and equipment, and road and bulk cartage. It owns and operates four quarries in the Thames Valley. These
hard rock quarries provide volcanic andesite and sedimentary greywacke rock for NZ roads, farms, buildings, railways, airports and seaports.
Quarrying Process at Leach’s Main Quarry
One of the quarries, Paeroa Quarry, which loads approximately 60 truckloads each day, operates a 'self service' weighbridge. They load their own trucks and customers' trucks. Each customer, to the quarry, stops on the weighbridge and enters details into a machine, hooked up to a printer. The customer enters their truck registration number, product required, amount of product needed etc. Historic data such as the tare weight and account information is preprogrammed into the machine. Once the customer has entered their details they receive a ticket showing the product required. This ticket is given to the loader driver who loads the truck, using a LOADRITE Pro, according to the details on the ticket. Loading with a LOADRITE onboard ensures that each truck is loaded to the correct weight each time and doesn't have to return from the weighbridge to get more product loaded. Before leaving the quarry the customer drives over the weighbridge and weighs out, receiving a ticket confirming their payload.
Before LOADRITE
Leach's Paeroa Quarry was forever having trucks return from the weighbridge to be reloaded because they were either over tare or under the target weight they had requested. Customers were frustrated as they spent more time queuing and being loaded that delivering product. Leach Quarry was less productive as time was spent reloading trucks. It was also costing the quarry money as its own trucks were waiting to be reloading rather than on the road making deliveries.
LOADRITE Saves Time
LOADRITE was the answer. Two LOADRITE Pro systems were installed on Leach's Caterpillar 962G machines. All trucks entering Leach's facility can be now be loaded to the correct weight first time - reducing truck turnaround times and queues at the weighbridge.
